Every October, Melbourne firefighters support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing special shirts to raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. This year, that support will also be visible on one of our fire engines.

Through a partnership with Health First, the engine will feature a pink Breast Cancer Awareness wrap throughout October with the message “One Community. One Fight.” The engine is based at Fire Station 74, across the street from Holmes Regional Medical Center. Palm Bay Fire Department and Malabar Fire Department are also partnering with Health First, helping carry the message throughout south Brevard County.

Breast cancer affects people and families across our community. By bringing this message onto the roads we travel every day, we hope to encourage conversations about breast health, regular screening and early detection, while showing support for everyone affected by the disease.
