City Attorney's Office

The Office of the City Attorney protects the legal interests and assets of the City of Melbourne. The attorneys in the office serve as legal counsel to the City Council as well as all of the other offices and departments of the City, its boards and committees and the three community redevelopment agencies.

City Clerk's Office

The City Clerk is the custodian of all City records and is responsible for providing administrative support to the Mayor and City Council; superintending the City's elections; superintending the City's special activity permitting process; attesting and countersigning legal documents; and serving as the liaison between appointed volunteer board members and the City Council.

City Manager's Office

The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and is responsible for the implementation of policies and decisions made by the City Council. The City Manager prepares a budget for the Council's consideration, serves as the Council's chief adviser, and is responsible for all City personnel.

Community Development

The Community Development Department administers the City's land use policies within the Comprehensive Plan, as well as the City’s zoning and land development regulations, to ensure the orderly physical growth of the community.

Engineering

The City of Melbourne Engineering Department oversees construction plan review, stormwater utility, capital improvement projects, traffic engineering, abandon and vacate requests, addressing, right-of-way use permits and agreements, water authorization, impact fee calculations, and maintenance of traffic for special events.

Financial Services

The Financial Services Department oversees the City’s budget, purchasing, utility billing, accounting and payroll divisions.

The Melbourne Fire Department is committed to responding to community needs by providing for the protection of life and property through innovative emergency medical care, fire suppression and hazard mitigation services. All stations are licensed in advanced life support and are staffed by paramedics.
