Elected to the Melbourne City Council in November 2024, Marcus Smith brings over 30 years of leadership experience as a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. Before his election, he served for three years on the Melbourne Planning and Zoning Board, gaining valuable experience in responsible growth and development policies. Marcus holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University Space Coast and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Committed to workforce development, infrastructure improvement, civic engagement, and small business and nonprofit support, he advocates for strategic investments in progress to ensure smart, sustainable growth for Melbourne and its residents.

Marcus Smith is a passionate financial empowerment advocate with over a decade of experience in the financial services industry. With a strong background in engineering, project management, and financial planning, Marcus has dedicated his career to helping individuals and families achieve financial stability and growth. Marcus is committed to giving back to the community. He volunteers with local nonprofits to provide financial education to underserved populations, believing that financial literacy is a critical tool for achieving economic equality.

Marcus Smith serves as an alternate voting delegate for the city with the Space Coast League of Cities and is a member of the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization. His current term extends to November 2028.
