Published on June 20, 2025

Faucet with text that says Water Advisory

There is a leak in a large water distribution main located at 2980 Hwy. A1A in Melbourne Beach (near the 7-11).

To repair the leak, city crews will have to temporarily close a valve at 2900/2927 Hwy A1A Melbourne Beach at 10 p.m. tonight (June 20).

This will interrupt water service for customers located from 2900/2927 Hwy. A1A south to 4982/4995 Hwy. A1A in Melbourne Beach, including all customers located on connecting streets in between these north and south limits addresses.

Customers located north of 2900/2927 Hwy. A1A will not be affected.

Expected Duration of Water Service Interruption:

Water service is expected to be interrupted for these customers from 10 p.m. tonight (June 20) to approximately 6 a.m. tomorrow morning (June 21).

Precautionary Boil Water Notice Will Be Issued:

As soon as water service is restored, customers at these addresses will be under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice due to the temporary drop in water pressure.

As a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes, be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

Affected Customers:

All water customers between 2900/2927 Hwy. A1A and 4982/4995 Hwy. A1A in Melbourne Beach, including all customers located on connecting streets in between these north and south limits addresses.

Expected Duration of Precautionary Boil Water Notice:

This precautionary boil water notice is expected to remain in effect until the required bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.

The earliest that test results will be available will be Monday, June 23.

Once these test results are received, we will issue an update alerting the public if the water is confirmed to be safe or if further testing is needed.

Notification:

We will alert customers via a CodeRED call and will also post it on the City of Melbourne website and the city's X and Facebook pages as soon as the precautionary boil water notice is lifted.

If you did not receive a call from CodeRED regarding this interruption to service and would like to receive the follow up call, please sign up for Code Red on the City’s website
