At approximately 4:17 p.m., officers responded the area of Wickham Rd. and Lake Washington Rd. for a report of a vehicle crash. The crash involved a 2001 Chrysler Van and an electric dirt bike. The driver of the electric dirt bike sustained serious bodily injuries as a result of the crash. Due to the injuries, the decision was made to airlift the driver to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.
A landing zone was established at the golf course near the intersection. The child was transported and is being treated at this time.
The initial investigation revealed the electric dirt bike was traveling west on Lake Washington, west of Wickham. The Chrysler Van was leaving the parking lot on the Northwest corner of the intersection and attempted to travel eastbound on Lake Washington. The Van pulled out in front of the electric dirt bike causing the electric dirt bike to strike the driver’s side of the van. At this time, all parties appear to be accounted for. Alcohol/drugs does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
