The annual Trash Bash was held on the morning of April 11. In just a few hours, 152 volunteers picked up 3,830 pounds of trash from eight sites in the City of Melbourne. This included 110 bags of trash and many large items like pallets and couches.
This was part of a larger effort that removed 40,600 pounds of trash countywide.
Trash Bash carries on a long-standing tradition supported locally by Keep Brevard Beautiful and nationally by Keep America Beautiful for over a half century as the Great American Cleanup, encouraging efforts to clean roadways, waterways and parks.
Breakfast snacks and sandwiches for all volunteers were graciously donated by Publix and McDonald’s (Houston Corporation).
