Come along for a ride with Todd Cook, City of Melbourne Solid Waste & Recycling Coordinator, as he shows why piling yard waste on or next to storm drains is a bad idea. When yard waste and other debris get too close to a storm drain, they can wash or blow into the drain, causing blockages that may lead to street flooding during heavy rain.
Help keep storm drains clear! Place yard waste in the right of way (the area between the curb and sidewalk) in front of your property. Keep it at least 5 feet away from storm drains.
