Florida Water Professionals Month is held annually to recognize employees who work tirelessly to operate and maintain our drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.

Our dedicated Public Works and Utilities employees work around the clock, 365 days a year, to ensure clean drinking water is delivered to every household, wastewater is collected and treated, streets are cleaned, and stormwater safely drains away from roadways after heavy rains.

These professionals play an essential role in maintaining and operating critical infrastructure, often behind the scenes. For example, when a water main breaks in the middle of the night, utility workers respond immediately — no matter the hour or weather conditions — to restore service and prevent future damage.

Florida Water Professionals Month also recognizes that water professionals are essential first responders during storms and other catastrophic events, who ensure safe drinking water and safe disposal of wastewater for our communities during times of crisis.
