PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT | EMERGENCY WEATHER & FLOODING UPDATE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Melbourne Police Department is issuing an urgent emergency advisory for all residents due to ongoing severe weather conditions and extreme flooding across our community.

CRITICAL PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTIVES:

  • STAY INDOORS: All residents are strongly urged to shelter in place and remain indoors until further notice.
  • DO NOT TRAVEL: Numerous roads and key intersections throughout Melbourne are severely flooded and completely impassable. Driving under these conditions poses extreme risk to life and property. Please stay off the roadways to allow emergency personnel clear access to high-priority calls.
  • FACILITY CLOSURES: The Melbourne Police Department Lobby and All City Facilities are currently closed to the public.

Our officers and emergency teams are actively monitoring the storm, assessing road conditions, and responding to emergency situations as quickly and safely as possible. Your safety is our highest priority. Please help us protect you by staying indoors and avoiding any travel.
