Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) is pleased to announce the completion of phase one of a public parking initiative. This first phase of a multi-phased project added 120 new spaces to better serve MLB's growing number of passengers and included significant improvements to its popular cell phone lot, further enhancing convenience for those picking up arriving passengers.

The parking expansion was prompted by a recently completed parking study, which identified that during peak travel times, the airport’s parking lots were nearing capacity. Even with the addition of new spaces, all parking remains a short and convenient walk to the terminal, preserving MLB’s hallmark ease of use.

The upgraded cell phone lot now provides an even better experience for drivers waiting to meet arriving passengers. Located off the return to terminal roadway, the cellphone lot offers a safe, free, and convenient place to wait until passengers are ready to be picked up curbside. By using the cell phone lot, visitors can avoid the hassle of circling the terminal or paying for short-term parking, a win for both drivers and airport traffic flow. Airport signage with QR Code enables drivers to conveniently monitor their passengers’ flight status while they wait.

Emphasizing MLB’s commitment to convenience and customer satisfaction, Executive Director Greg Donovan, A.A.E. said, “As our hometown airport, providing a positive, safe travel experience is always our top priority. The parking expansion and cell phone lot improvements are part of our ongoing effort to ensure that using MLB is as easy and stress-free as possible. We want to make sure every part of the journey, from arrival to departure, is smooth and welcoming.”

The airport’s parking study was a driving factor in both projects, ensuring that MLB continues to anticipate the needs of customers while maintaining the efficiency and convenience that have long been a point of pride.
