After a lengthy investigation involving the examination of extensive digital and other forensic evidence, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Tekayiaha Alize Hardy of Palm Bay. A warrant for her arrest was obtained, and on June 18, 2025, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office located and placed her under arrest for leaving the scene of a crash with death. She is currently being held on “No Bond” status until her initial court appearance, as ordered by the court.
At approximately 12:18 AM on Monday, December 25, 2023, Melbourne police officers responded to the area of South Harbor City Blvd and Strawbridge Ave regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the pedestrian had sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and succumbed to those injuries a short time later at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Initial investigation reveals the pedestrian attempted to cross over S Harbor City Blvd near the intersection of Strawbridge Ave when he was struck by an unknown driver of an unknown vehicle who was traveling north on S Harbor City Blvd. The driver and vehicle failed to stay on scene and fled northbound on S Harbor City Blvd. It is unknown if alcohol/drugs were a factor in this crash at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
