On September 23, 2026, at approximately 1316 hours, the Melbourne Police Department responded to the area of S. Harbor City Blvd. and NASA Blvd. in reference to a vehicle that struck the guardrail. Officers arrived on scene and located the female inside the vehicle who appeared to be having an unknown medical event.
Officers broke out the window, extricated the driver, and began providing lifesaving care. The driver was transported to a local hospital for further medical diagnosis and treatment. The driver was declared deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.
At this time, it is believed the driver suffered a medical episode. The crash is still under investigation.
The vehicle was a 2025 Hyundai SUV. The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.
