On April 30, 2026 at approximately 2200 hours, the Melbourne Police Department received multiple 911 calls in reference to a vehicle crash in the area of Babcock St/University Bl. Upon arrival, it was discovered one of the involved vehicles was rolled over and another one was off the roadway on the sidewalk.
The initial crash investigation shows a Ford F350, traveling southbound on S. Babcock St, crossed the median into the northbound lanes of traffic striking a 2016 Kia Soul. Brevard County Fire Rescue responded and transported the driver of the Kia to a local hospital. That driver succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased there.
The crash resulted in all lanes of traffic being closed for several hours.

The names of the drivers are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin and further investigation.
