Captured: Escaped Prisoner

Update:

Members of the Melbourne Police Department’s Intelligence Unit, in coordination with members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit developed reason to believe Eric Jerry was hiding at a home in Northwest Palm Bay.  They contacted the resident who ultimately granted permission to search the property.  Mr. Jerry was found attempting to conceal himself and taken into custody by the entry team.

Original Media Release (February 11, 2026):

On February 11, 2026, officers with the Melbourne Police Department contacted Eric Jordon Jerry in reference to an outstanding arrest warrant.  Mr. Jerry was taken into custody without incident.  Mr. Jerry advised the transport officers that he was suffering from a medical issue, during transport to the Brevard County Jail.  The officers diverted to Orlando Health, located at 250 N. Wickham Rd., where he battered the officers as they were removing him from the vehicle, and fled on foot.  It was discovered, during the confrontation, that Mr. Jerry had somehow removed his handcuffs.

Officers chased Mr. Jerry into the woods south of the hospital.  Additional officers responded to assist with the pursuit.  An exhaustive search consisting of the use of multiple canine teams, drones, and the BCSO aviation unit proved unsuccessful in locating Mr. Jerry.

Suspect: Eric Jordon Jerry; 4/10/2001 B/M 6’00” and 160 lbs; Melbourne, Florida

Charges: Escape, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting with Violence, and Resisting without Violence
