On January 7, 2026, members of the Florida Highway Patrol’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit and the Melbourne Police Department conducted “Operation Overload.” This operation was designed to address commercial motor vehicle violations in the area of US Highway 1 and Lake Washington Road. The primary goal was to identify and address commercial motor vehicles operating in the area with unsecure and/or unsafe loads. Secondary violations were addressed as well.
As a result of the operation, four level 2 commercial motor vehicle inspections, four level 3 commercial motor vehicle inspections and five weight violation inspections were conducted. These inspections resulted in the completion of three uniform commercial citations, three uniform traffic citations and one hotlist violation. The hotlist violation was an unpaid fine totaling $6,070, which was then paid by the violator during the operation.
