The City of Melbourne operates and maintains an extensive park system. Over 232 acres of city parks, including community parks, athletic fields, and special use facilities, are available for the community's and neighborhood use and enjoyment.
Many of the parks feature picnic areas, pavilions, gazebos, playgrounds, athletic fields, hike and bike trails, and other amenities. The parks systems will continue to conserve open space and natural resources, and provide for the present and future needs of outdoor recreation opportunities.
All City of Melbourne parks, boat ramps, playgrounds and park restrooms are open with some limitations and precautions:
- All visitors are asked to practice social distancing and not gather in groups of 50 or more.
- Pavilions are open for rentals. Applicants are encouraged to avoid gathering in groups of more than 50.
- Please be aware that city staff will only be able to clean and sanitize play structures and restrooms twice a day. We encourage visitors to take any personal precautions they feel necessary, such as using hand sanitizer before and after use of the playground equipment.
