Task Force to Promote Businesses With Directory; Spend Local Campaign
The City of Melbourne, Melbourne Regional Chamber, Melbourne Main Street, Eau Gallie Arts District, and Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) have joined forces in a collaborative effort to help market Melbourne’s local businesses when they begin to re-open.
The “Melbourne: Back in Business” campaign will consist of various elements including signage and outdoor advertising, digital media marketing, and social media promotions to help revive Melbourne’s economy by encouraging area consumers to spend local. Tool kits and resources will also be available for businesses and consumers that will include recommended safe practices and up-to-date information.
Governor’s Plan Unveiled
On April 29, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the Safe, Smart, Step-By-Step Plan to Reopen Florida. Phase 1 of the plan will begin on Monday, May 4, and will allow the re-opening of restaurants and retail establishments at 25% capacity. Restaurants may also offer outdoor seating with 6' of space between tables.* Medical services, including elective procedures, surgical centers, office surgery centers, dental offices, orthodontic offices, endodontic office and other health care practitioners' offices may fully re-open. Phase 2 of the plan will begin once the Governor determines it is suitable to continue re-opening and after fully considering medical data in consultation with state health officials. (For details see the Florida Division of Emergency Management website.)
