Multiple Arrests at Palm Bay Magnet High School

Event: Disorderly Conduct and Disrupting a School Function

Location of Event:  Palm Bay Magnet High School; 101 Pirate Lane, Melbourne

Officers are investigating an incident where two female students engaged in a fist fight during school hours at the Palm Bay Magnet High School. When the School Resource Officer, a Melbourne Police Officer, intervened to break the fight up, one of the female students physically attacked the Officer. In addition, during the altercation involving the School Resource Officers additional students began to fight and become disorderly. Multiple officers responded, including Officers from the Palm Bay and West Melbourne Police Departments, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to assist in restoring order. 

During the incident, an adult relative of an involved student was at the school causing a significant verbal disturbance with students involved in the incident. The woman was repeatedly instructed by an Officer to leave school property. When she refused to comply, she was arrested for disrupting the school function. 

In total, 10 students were arrested in the incident for various charges including battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, disrupting a school function, and resisting arrest.
