Washingtonia Drive water line to improve flows and pressures
A new water main is being constructed on Washingtonia Drive to allow the properties on this road, which is west of I-95 Road and north of Lake Washington Road, to be able to connect to City of Melbourne water. The bigger advantage, however, is to provide a looped system that will improve flows and pressure for those nearby.
“The side streets were all dead ends (for the water line),” said Utilities Engineer Jennifer Spagnoli. “By adding
this feed line, a second connection will be provided at Flora Drive, Fauna Drive and the Woodshire Preserve for service reliability
by looping the distribution system.”
This $499,332 project is being constructed by Young’s Communication Company Inc. and should be completed in about a month. It includes the
installation of approximately 5,600 linear feet of 12-inch PVC water main along Washingtonia Drive from Lake Washington Road to Province Drive and installation of approximately 1,200 linear feet of eight-inch water main for side street connections.
