Historic & Architectural Review Board Meeting (Includes Historical Properties Survey Presentation)

The Historic and Architectural Review Board is a quasi-judicial board with nine members (seven regular members and two alternates). The board recommends  local  historic  designations  and  regulates  and  administers  historical,  cultural,  archaeological  and  architectural resources in the City of Melbourne. It also considers material changes in the exterior appearance of existing buildings located on non-residential property in the city’s redevelopment districts.

The board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.

Special Presentation: Historic Properties Survey

During the January 16 Historic and Architectural Review Board Meeting the final results of the Historic Property Survey will be presented. The presentation will include findings from the survey of more than 309 historic properties in Downtown Melbourne. The survey data will be available to the public through an interactive map, which will be demonstrated at the meeting. This is the first time historic properties have been surveyed in Downtown Melbourne in 27 years. The City received a grant from the State of Florida, Division of Historical Resources, to survey buildings in the downtown area for inclusion in the State’s inventory of historic resources (Florida Master Site File).
