Recognizing that one of the most important elements of a successful water conservation program is encouraging the public to take steps to protect the resource, the City has an active and comprehensive approach in its outreach efforts. The City’s Environmental Community Outreach Division promotes and participates in a wide variety of activities within the community.

The City regularly promotes water conservation at environmental exhibits and events where a large and diverse segment of the population is reached. Programs that occur annually include the Better Business Council’s Better Living Expo in February, Drop Savers Poster Contest, Florida Friendly Landscape Seminars, Brevard Zoo Teacher Open House, and other events.

The City regularly provides water conservation educational programs at schools throughout Melbourne’s water service area. These successful programs are typically held in individual classrooms and are very interactive with the students. Summer camp programs are also provided.
