The City of Melbourne offers certain exemptions to charitable, educational and religious institutions, disabled honorably discharged veterans, unremarried spouses of disabled veterans, other disabled individuals, widows with minor dependents, and certain individuals 65 or older as authorized by State law. 

If you think you qualify for an exemption, please contact the business tax office by e-mail or call  (321) 953-6278 to discuss the specific requirements and the amount of the exemption. 

An Business Tax Receipt is still required to conduct business and will be issued free or at a reduced tax rate. The Non-Business Tax Receipt Referral Form must be completed and your business or institution must comply with zoning requirements and inspection from the Code Compliance Division.
