
Council Member Mark LaRusso was elected without opposition to his second, full term on November 2, 2010, from Melbourne's District 2, which covers the area from south of Post Road to south of Sarno Road, and from the Indian River Lagoon west to Stewart Road and Apollo Boulevard. His current term extends to November of 2014. Link to Map of Districts. He began service on the City Council in November of 2004 and was elected to his first, full term in November of 2006.
Council Member LaRusso was selected in 2006 and 2009 by fellow
Council Members to serve a one-year term as Vice Mayor. He was
also appointed to the Space Coast Transportation Planning
Organization (formally Metropolitan Planning Organization). He
has served as a member of the Melbourne Airport Authority.
Carmine Priore, president of the Florida League of Cities,
appointed Vice Mayor LaRusso to the Florida League of Cities
Finance and Taxation Legislative Policy Committee for 2008-2009.
Council Member LaRusso is an independent business owner. He served
on the City of Melbourne's Zoning Board of Adjustment prior to
his election to the City Council.
Community
Service: Council Member LaRusso has long been active in community service. He was the
President of the Sanctuary's Homeowner's Association from 2001 until 2003
and has served as Chairman of the Sanctuary's Architectural Control
Committee and Annexation Oversight Committee. He has
served on the executive board for the YMCA and is an
Honorary Board Member of Honor America.
Council Member LaRusso was honored with the Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association’s
Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Leadership.

is married to Randy, an educator in the Florida school system since 1978, and has a daughter in college.
