Harry Goode was elected from Melbourne's District 3, which is bounded by Babcock Street on the west, Lipscomb Street and the Indian River Lagoon on the north and east, and the city limit to the south. (Link to Map of Districts). His current City Council term will be completed in November of 2016.

In 2012, Council Member Goode completed a second four-year term as Mayor. As Mayor, he also served on the Airport Authority that governs operations of the Melbourne International Airport.

Council Member Goode previously served as Mayor from 1979 to 1986, and then served in the Florida House of Representatives for 14 years. He has previously served as the City's voting delegate/director on the Space Coast League of Cities. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Florida League of Mayors in November 2005. He has been a member of the Florida League of Cities Advocacy Committee and the Florida League of Cities Federal Action Strike Team.

Council Member Goode was born in Brevard County, and is a graduate of Melbourne High School. He also attended Florida Southern College.  He was a local independent business owner before retirement.
