July 4 celebration in Melbourne, Florida

Celebrating America's Independence Day

The City of Melbourne, Florida, will present an Independence Day Fireworks display at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 4, over the Indian River Lagoon at Claude Edge Front Street Park, 2210 Front Street, just north of the Melbourne Causeway.


 The fireworks display is funded by generous contributions to the Melbourne Community Fireworks Fund by individuals, groups, businesses, and local governments. The 2014 goal of an ongoing fundraising activity is to raise $15,000 to fund the display and support the parade that is organized by the Honor America organization.

 Because parking is limited in the vicinity of the park, a free shuttle bus service is to operate between the Melbourne Auditorium and Front Street Park beginning at 7:10 p.m. A complete schedule is provided a below. The Auditorium is located at 625 Hibiscus Boulevard.

Parking is allowed in legal spaces in the vicinity of the fireworks display. No parking is allowed on the portion of the causeway that is in the City of Melbourne. Limited parking for the disabled is available near Front Street Park.

Please note that some businesses do not allow public parking, even when they are closed. Those businesses may have your vehicle towed from their private properties even if they are not open for business on July 4, at your expense.


In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be rescheduled to July 5.

There will be no parking shuttle on July 5.

Fireworks rain date road closures will be the same as on July 4.


The City co-sponsors an Independence Day parade to be presented by Honor America Inc. on New Haven Avenue in Historic Downtown Melbourne at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 4.

The parade is to begin near the railroad tracks and travel westward on New Haven Avenue to Oak Street, then northward to Honor America's Liberty Bell Museum. For additional information call 321-727-1776.


Firecracker 5K Run: Road closures will begin at 6 a.m. The event will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to conclude by 8:15 a.m. The run will begin and end on Hickory Street, south of Hibiscus Boulevard.

Honor America Parade: The parade will stage at 9 a.m. on Melbourne Avenue between the railroad overpass and Melbourne Court, travel west on New Haven, north on Oak Street and disband at Honor America at approximately 11 a.m.

Fireworks Display:
The following roads will be closed from approximately 8 p.m. until 10:15 p.m. to safeguard pedestrians from vehicular traffic and debris from fireworks:

  • State Road 500 (Melbourne Causeway) from U.S. 1 to Riverside Drive in Indialantic
  • New Haven Ave. from U.S.1 to Front Street
  • Portions of Melbourne Avenue
  • Front Street
