The goal of the Hickory Street Complete Street Project to is to create a safer environment that balances the needs of pedestrians and bicyclists with cars, buses and other motorized vehicles that travel along Hickory Street between New Haven Avenue and NASA Boulevard.

In particular, the project aims to make the span of Hickory Street between Hibiscus Boulevard and NASA Boulevard much safer for those walking between facilities of Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center campus, especially for the many staff, patients and visitors who park in the lots on one side of Hickory Street and cross by foot to get to the hospital and other medical facilities located on the opposite side.
