The Building Section provides permitting, review, and inspection of construction to ensure compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes. The City Code requirements are necessary to promote public safety, and include minimum standards for safe building practices and materials.
Notice to Contractor
The Florida Building Code, Sixth Edition (2017), including the 2014 National Electrical Code, will become effective Dec. 31, 2017.
F.S.553.73(6) The initial adoption of, and any subsequent update or amendment to the Florida Building Code by the commission is deemed adopted for use statewide without adoptions by local government. For a building permit for which an application is submitted prior to the effective date of the Florida Building Code, the state minimum building code in effect in the permitting jurisdiction on the date of the application governs the permitted work for the life of the permit and any extension granted to the permit.
Please note: Applications submitted prior to Dec. 31, 2017, will be reviewed under the Florida Building Code, Fifth Edition, and the 2011 National Electrical Code.

Applicants must submit plans to be reviewed at the permitting counter. Plans are reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Upon completion of review, plans will be either approved for construction or returned to the designer for Code required corrections.
Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Permit Applications and Plans are accepted between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Permits are issued between 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monies are not accepted after 4:00 p.m.
Field Inspectors Office & Field Hours
Most inspectors are available for phone calls during their office hours: 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
