Assistance in Making Key Box Arrangements

The Fire Prevention Section can assist homeowners in arranging the purchase of 'Knox Box' containers that can be mounted to structures to provide a key for emergency services personnel to enter homes without causing damage. Applications are taken by the City, along with payments, and forwarded to the company that provides the boxes. The boxes are then shipped directly to customers. For information call 321-608-7910.

Customers May Prefer To Pay By Credit Card

Notice as of April 2, 2007, credit /debit card transactions are provided as a service through Point and Pay, Inc.  The City accepts American Express, Discover Card and MasterCard.  Use of the service carries a 2.95% convenience fee with a minimum of $2.00 which is included in the total credit/debit card payment amount.  The City of Melbourne does not receive any money from this convenience fee.  Convenience fees are collected by the credit card processing company and credit card companies.

Carbon Monoxide Protection

Every building for which a permit is issued after July 1, 2008 and having a fossil-fuel-burning heater or appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage shall have an operational Carbon Monoxide Alarm installed within 10 feet of each room used for sleeping purposes. This means every new single or multi-family building that has gas appliances, a fireplace or an attached garage has to meet this requirement. This also includes any permits for renovations or additions to buildings that meet the above criteria.
