RELOCATION NOTICE: Offices of the Code Compliance Division, which processes building permits and City Code violations, are relocated to 830 N. Apollo Boulevard in the commercial plaza at the southwest corner of the intersection of Apollo Blvd. and Sarno Rd.

Code Compliance is dedicated to the provision of high-quality services through innovative policies, procedures, and advanced computer technology. The Division also provides direct support for the Code Enforcement Board, Building and Construction Advisory Committee, and the Building Board of Adjustment and Appeals.  "The Role of City Boards" can provide more information on board functions.  

The Building section provides permitting, review, and inspection of  construction and structure alterations within Melbourne to ensure compliance with City building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes.  The codes promote public safety and include certain minimum standards and requirements for safe building practices and materials. 

The Code Enforcement section enforces various codes to ensure the safety and quality of life in Melbourne.  (Online Request for Service)

Fire Prevention provides for the safety of our citizens by strict enforcement of fire prevention codes, investigation of origin and cause of fires, and the provision of current safety information and techniques through public education.
