The City of Melbourne is
pleased to have available an automated building and fire inspection information system
which was developed to efficiently place accurate information at the fingertips of
contractors, inspectors, and homeowners.
By following a simple touch-tone telephone
procedure, customers can request an inspection, obtain the results of an
inspection, and check the overall status of a building permit.
In order to assist the customer in
obtaining timely inspections, Building Department personnel will attempt to perform
morning and afternoon inspections. Requests called in up to 7:00 a.m. will be performed
between 8:0011:30 a.m. when possible. Requests called in between 8:00 a.m. and noon
will be performed between 1:003:30 p.m. when possible. Inspections can be canceled
during these same time frames. Every attempt will be made to complete an inspection when
requested, however, the time of the inspection cannot be guaranteed. In an attempt
to be fair to those individuals requesting inspections, only one inspection per permit,
will be made per day.
Work should be complete and
ready for inspection at the time the inspection is scheduled. If the work
is not ready or does not conform to Code or the approved drawings, a reinspection will be
necessary. A reinspection fee will be charged each time it is necessary for the inspector
to make additional inspections until the work is approved. Please see "Pre-inspection Requirements" for details on what work is
necessary to be completed prior to an inspection. |
