Event: Arrest/Vehicle Pursuit
Date/Time of Event: May 2, 2018, at 9:40 PM.
Location of Event: Lipscomb Street and Juniper Lane
Melbourne Police Officers attempted a traffic stop on a white Ford F150, which was recently reported stolen from a location in the City of Palm Bay. The vehicle fled from the officers South on Lipscomb Street. An officer attempted to deploy stop sticks at the intersection of Lipscomb Street and University Boulevard. His attempt was unsuccessful and the vehicle continued traveling south. Seconds later, the driver attempted to negotiate a right turn onto Juniper Lane. His speed proved too fast and he lost control of the vehicle which ultimately struck a house on the southwest corner of the intersection. The driver fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended by Melbourne Police Officers.
The two occupants of the home were unharmed. Melbourne Fire Department responded and determined the home may have suffered some structural damage so the occupants were relocated pending further inspection. The driver was identified as Jerrell Brown Jr. Mr. Brown did not suffer any injuries during the crash or apprehension. He was booked on the charges listed below and turned over to the Brevard County Jail.

Palm Bay Police Department is actively following up the original vehicle theft. Additional charges are pending the results of their investigation.
