Disaster debris collection from Irma nets 107,000+ cubic yards
To date 107,917 cubic yards of Hurricane Irma debris have been collected in the City of Melbourne — almost double the amount of debris left by Hurricane Matthew (56,417 cubic yards) in 2016.
Debris removal contractors have been working daily since September 20, completing two sweeps of approximately 300 miles of right of way in the City of Melbourne to remove vegetation and construction and demolition material left by Hurricane Irma.
