CITY POLICE AND FIRE CREWS ASSISTING RESIDENTS IN AREAS THAT HAVE FLOODED
City police and fire crews are responding to multiple calls from citizens reporting flooding in their homes and neighborhoods. In some cases, residents are unable to evacuate on their own and need assistance from emergency crews. Where possible, city crews are transporting residents to shelters using high profile vehicles.
Areas experiencing the greatest flooding are in the Main Street and Church Street area, west of U.S. 1, and the Ixora Park area, located south of Sarno Road, between Croton and Aurora Roads. The city will continue to monitor the situation and assist residents as rain is expected to continue over the next few hours.
Residents requiring assistance in evacuating their homes due to flooding should contact the non-emergency number of the Melbourne Police Department at 321-608-6731.
