Melbourne Police Department Investigate Drowning

Event: Drowning

Date/Time of Event: July 2, 2017 / 1614 hrs

Location of Event: Caribbean Villas Apartments, 2639 Granada Bay Dr.

The Melbourne Police Department is investigating the drowning of a 2 year old.

Officers were dispatched to the Caribbean Villas Apartment complex regarding a missing child. As officers were searching the area the child was found underwater in a pond behind the clubhouse. An officer entered the water and pulled the child out and immediately began life saving measures. Melbourne Fire Rescue and Brevard County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and continued CPR measures; however, it was determined the child had succumbed to this tragic event.

Detectives are in the initial stages of this investigation. More information will be released when available.
