Public Invited to Meet Melbourne Police Chief Candidates, March 23

On Thursday, March 23, the City of Melbourne will be hosting a reception for the public to meet the seven finalists for the Melbourne Police Chief position.

The reception will be held at Front Street Civic Center (2205 S. Front Street, Melbourne) on March 23, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The final candidates are:

  • William Berger, United States Marshal, Middle District of Florida
  • Robert Buckman, Chief Deputy, Bureau Commander, Loudoun County (VA) Sheriff’s Office
  • David Gillespie, Commander, 5th District – Germantown, Montgomery County (MD) Police Department
  • Robert Merner, Assistant Chief, Seattle (WA) Police Department
  • Nelson Moya, Commander, Special Operations Division, Palm Bay Police Department
  • Charles Vazquez, Assistant Chief of Police, Houston (TX) Police Department
  • Ronald Wilhelmy, Assistant Commissioner, Office of Management Analysis & Planning, New York City Police Department

On March 24, each candidate will participate in interviews with city management and with a community panel consisting of representatives from various sectors, agencies and organizations.
