Requires a Bachelor’s degree, in Fire Science, EMS, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field supplemented by advanced level course work in modern methods of firefighting.  Must possess a current State of Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Firefighter II, State of Florida Fire Officer I certification or equivalent, and State of Florida Paramedic or EMT certification.  Must possess a valid State of Florida driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 10 working days of employment.  Must have at least 10 years’ experience in an organized paid professional Fire/EMS department with at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity at the Battalion Chief level or higher.  Position requires residency within a 10-mile perimeter of the City of Melbourne within six months of employment.
